For some reason Photobucket works better on Firefox than on Chrome, it's just about unusable on Chrome. I run Adblocker on both, but I think some kind of script runs in the background of Chrome that mimics the adverts, I don't see them but the site behaves as though they are being displayed.
I've just read that 'Snapjoy', another photo hosting site, is closing and are saying that if users don't download their pictures off the site within a certain time they will be lost.

There should be a possibility to setup an own home file sharing/web server, no ads, average speed, Control of own photos. I Remember Opera webbrowser 11 had an extension called Unite, easy to use home web server for sharing content. One could have an old pc in the closet, always on. No big expenses. There is Retroshare, but much fiddle to use, share out certificates etc.
