Hi All! I've been finding all sorts of cameras for my collection lately, and haven't had the time to post them all. That's a good thing, I guess. Got a package in the mail today, 2 Ansco No.2 Vest pockets that use 120 film, and 2 No.0 Vest pockets that use 127. Total cost 10 US Dollars with 10 shipping. I'll be doing a lot of posting the next couple of days Here's the first....... It's a No.1 from around 1916 I think, uses 120, and has a Modico Anastigmat f7.5 lens in a Bionic Shutter. The leather is pretty shot, but the bellows seems ok. It also has the original lens cover! I thought that maybe I'd do it up in a different color, Olive Green or something like that. Doug

There's a little peculiarity about the shutter's name, "Bionic", this name pre-dates the modern usage which came from the 1950's, and was used in an article in The Windsor Magazine of 1898 in speculation about the optics involved in an artificial eye, using a light sensitive cell and a camera lens, outlining almost a prototype TV system. Ansco's use is optical, and a feature in the article was the use of as shutter to regulate the light, I wonder if the naming was based on this? or just chance. Stephen.
