I'm not against digital, but I thought this Forum if they speak as little as possible. Each week the market throws up a new model of digital camera according to a principle of economic frantic consumerism | Everything and everyone speaks only of new digital or "old" it is. I hope you talk more than traditional cameras, preferably ancient. Marco Marco Marco,I, like you, much prefer cameras that are true antiques. But one of the great attractions of this site is its flexibility, its lack of rigidity in the sometimes whacky subjects discussed. PLanes and trains and automobiles and apnea and puppy dogs and all sorts of things. "Of shoes and ships and sealing wax and whether pigs have wings" are not beyond its scope of interest. Regardless of the subject you may be sure a camera was there to record it and one of our CC's (Crazy Collectors) has an abiding interest in it. A photographer might call it "A change of seen (sic)" Mickey

Marco, here at the Camera Collector, we have a board for just about every aspect concerning cameras there is. I have NOT removed the boards that are here for the particular interest you have. I have just added a few more. How about less complaining and a little more posting?

Marco,
I simply expressed a personal point of view.
And I am ancient.

Hi Marco! I find a great deal of enjoyment collecting the lowly Ansco products, mostly as they were made in my hometown of Binghamton, but I also love "ancient" photographica. I must say, however, that my digital cameras have given me back the joy of actual photography. This forum is a wonderful place to sharpen your skills! Sometimes I wonder what the discussions must have been like between the Daguerrotypists and those who used paper, or glass plate negatives. Those would have been fun to listen to Doug BTW, I'm still looking for some old Durst cameras!

Film cameras are no different. What has happened over the years it that certain things have been made possible by advances in technology, but that was always happening, even in the days of film. Had it not been so we would still have our heads under the drapes of a plate camera and using magnesium flash powder. Digital can't go back to the dark ages just to keep traditionalists happy, in the same way as a film SLR with electronic flash can't become a plate camera with that magnesium flash.
There are many photographic forums out there. Most seem to start with grand ideas but just about all end up with one section that dominates. In the end a photograph is a photograph however it's taken, and a topic can be of interest whatever the topic is. Certainly a photographic forum, just like any forum, is about life in general, but with its central theme.
My own preference would be to do away with categories entirely and just let things mingle. That said, it is easier to find things if they are within certain specific headings.
