I've just re- discivered this canonet i had hidden somewhere in a box in the attick. I've worked with the later models canonet QL gIII with the 1:1,7 and the 1:1,9 lenses but this is a complete diffrent beast. The meter still works and is accurate all shutter speeds seem OK, and that trigger wind is just beautifull, for some reason it seems to be fitting much better on this camera than on the R2000 reflex. The only thing wrong with this camera seems to be the diafragm wich isn't working, i can't see any oil or dirt on the blades but it just sticks to the same apperture nomatter what you do. This is a bit of a pitty as i would have loved to run some film trough this camera as it has a real nice "range finder" feel to it. The lovely trigger wind, canon must have had more than a little interest in the leicavit

Known to be a troublesome camera. More on it elsewhere in the forum

Think i am going to let this one die a silent death, as it is most likely not worth the time you spend on it. I still have some GIII's should i ever feel the urge to shoot film with these type of cameras.

I agree with the verdict of the G III QL. I like this one better (although it is not an early model): IMG_0976 by hanszeiss, on Flickr

In my student days, when i supplemented my budget by trading in seond hand cameras, I briefly used a Canonet f 1,9 with the selenium cell surround. Faster cocking than my Leica, and OK exposure, but terrible flare.

I had this camera a year ago, I had to clean the shutter then it was up and running.
