There are some of these cameras for sale in my country, prices kind of stiff, but one could present an offer. Camera has a very interesting and good lens, Summarit 40/2.4. Questions arise about the dreaded and known E02 error, apparently impossible to repair. Could this error derive from camera turning on in the bag and the lens is trying to come out, but with a lot of resistance, hence the error is developed?
Could the lens be taken out from a broken camera and be converted to e.g. m39 LTM mount? I am not the right person to do this, so I must rely on shipping the lens to some company/service man.

I very much think lens removal would be impossible, there is no shutter in the design, it uses the diaphragm blades as the shutter, being closed at rest, and opening to an aperture and speed on exposure. It is heavily integrated into the design, and it would not function off the camera without a great deal of work. As a camera they do not have a good reputation, wildly overpriced when new, and near feature free! That said the lens is the best bit of this Japanese Leica. Stephen

If you could remove the lens I doubt it would convert to M39, I suspect the Flange focal distance would be too short. Perhaps ok on a mirrorless.
The aperture/shutter could be fixed at about f8, I've done this to a Trip lens and a Konica 35 lens with good results.
If its the zoom lens forget it.
I'd be happy to have a dabble with it at your risk! I now convert any old camera lens to M39 if I can as it will go on my Zorki or my NEX.
