On the subject of doors, this pic i've made some time ago allways reminds me of the movie "the matrix"and the scene where Neo is in the waiting room to see the oracle. The small kid bending spoons the Uri Geller way says afterworth to Neo " the secret is: there is no spoon" Well in this pic there is no door

I wonder what it is about doors that have always made them so interesting photographs. Another is shooting up from the bottom of winding staircases. Maybe another thread devoted to doors or staircases?
Buona Natale da Roma!

David Well, i guess it's a bit human nature, allways wanting to know what's behind a closed door or where the staircase will lead you.

This is in the oldest part of town at the base of the Colonna castle. The houses here date back about 1000 years. The town grew from a small Roman village that had been built near the villa of Antoninus Pius the ruins of which go back to the 3rd century. David

You live in a beautiful town David. I looked it up on google street view. Of course it can only show where cars go. This last imege is lovely. The sepia fits the tone of the place beautifully

It is almost as if the builders of 1000 years ago knew that some day you would be coming along with a camera to honour their works. Mickey

Genazzano has been my home for almost 12 yearsand I never get tired of seeing its narrow streets, ancient walls and stairways, and through the lens it can take on another level of beauty. ...and thank you for your kind comments. David

I often drive up the valley on the winding roads to the mountain top where there is an ancient monastery called the Mentorella. My 1979 930 has been with me for 23 years. The view from the roadside a few minutes outside of town is beautiful. All of these were shot with my Nikkor f/1.4 50mm mounted on my D70. David

Once again, BRAVISSIMO! Mickey Look what I have to admire in my beautiful Toronto. A howling blizzard. Even the snowplough had to stop for a temporary whiteout. And more to come.
