Hi Conan... prices are constantly changing with inflation of course but cameras have certainly become affordable to the working class.. when I was a boy I was given a Kodak box camera (not 100% certain but think it may have been a 2A mod B) it cost my dad a small fortune and made me as happy as a pig in s##t. These days even before the advent of digital you can get them for a song but naturally the newly released cameras are still an expensive item but I dont think quite so as expensive in comparison once adjusted for inflation.. but heck of a lot more advanced technically
I just love cameras and I have an inbuilt hoarding bug.. have heap of different collections.. but I find with my cameras I like the OLD / SCABBY / non technical stuff as well as any and although I'm not interested in price so far as re-sale I like to know what the cost was when they were introduced
My collection hasn't progressed to Leica's or anything like that yet (havent found one for under $100 (which is my limit so far as collectibles) but have huge numbers of SLRs from Prakticas through to Nikons and Edixa's.. favourites probably fall into folding and box cameras
Housing them has become a huge problem.. luckily I'm a retired carpenter and not too bad at cabinetry and have built some 15 display cabinets of varying sizes but still almost half of my collection remains in boxes have started using sheds now to house the newer cabinets
Ohh and if you havent noticed I do tend to waffle on.....

Basically the image, your file in the computer has to be up loaded to Flickr or Photobucket, before you do the text.
The built in Pro Board picture posting is best not used, it is limited in memory.
Posting using such as Photobucket does not require tech knowledge, just register with them, free, and follow the upload instructions, file size and type do not matter.
After it is in Photobucket , then "copy" the Image code offered, by simply clicking on the middle option of three on the right hand menu.
Close Bhotobucket, and as you write the post, when you get to the picture, just right click the mouse and pick the paste option.
At that point Photobuckets code is entered in the post, and is automatically used to produce the picture as required.
It is an automatic process, simply a copy and paste, using Photobucket to host the image, they do all the work for you.
For simple convenience I always transfer the camera file from the camera or the hard drive to the desktop, where it can be found when you have opened up Photobucket. Rename to something memorable whilst on the desktop. Even after transfer to Photobucket the file remains on the desktop, and can, as it is usually a copy of the original, just be deleted, or sent to a storage folder.
There is no need to send the picture back to the camera card, all these processes only copy images, not touching the original.
Once the picture is in Photobucket, just leave it there, if deleted then the picture will not post!

If you got though to pasting, then yes, all that will appear in the text editor will be a string of code, but as soon as the post is complete you can preview or post and the code transforms into the picture.
In the text editor it is good practice to press enter after the text and allow a blank line by pressing enter again, then paste the code, and again press enter, before going on with more text.
If you use the quick reply button (on the left of the text editor), you cannot review the pictures, if you want to preview then use the reply button on the right. The preview will show the picture, but also allow removal etc., before posting.
Stephen.

I do hope I can learn to post pics as well. I have problems finding info especially on the very common nothing type cameras Its easy enough to get shutter speed and aperture info etc. straight from the camera but I like to also find info such as release dates.. price at time of release etc. and all that seems to be recorded for older rarer cameras more then the simple focus free and self focusing ones such as all the Pentax Espios etc. I use Camerapedia and few similar sites but there must be more out there but being new to computers I have trouble finding things Oh and yes.. displaying this number of cameras is difficult I only have a little over half on display at the moment Sorry if my times are off.. I'm in Australia and times for rest of the world are always off Bob Camfiend from your posts I get the impression you are way out in the bush especially with 500 acres. Now let me see - a big farm shed could display 500 cameras. One shed on each acre still leaves lot of farming room. With that much space its small wonder you have such a giant selection of cameras or perhaps you have one of those 200 square farmhouses. Us poor buggers in Sydney tend to be land poor and property size reduced. Even if I converted the lounge into a dedicated camera museum I doubt I could display even 500 cameras.

It was last published in 2006 - the 12th edition. 1248 pages so eat your Wheaties. If a used one is available it would be well worth its cost. Even an older edition would provide much of what you want. Mickey

Thanks Mickey I'll keep my eye out for one... also yes Conan I'm way west of Lowmead a place called Kolonga (I think that must mean many trees few people) and the whole place is probably not worth anywhere near as much as a city block... no farming, used to have goats but too old to keep fences in decent repair now.. got quite a bit of shed space but collect many different things also and display cabinets are in short supply Good luck with the collecting

Whatever number and order of the boxes IMG is the one on which to click.Mickey

Click on UBB codes at the header of each page. I have included how to do it and about using photobucket. Strange thing....the old computer on XP never responded to the references on UBB, Cosina files etc. Press and nothing happened, Now with a newer 64 bit Win 10 Dell, it responds instantly to the references.....I wonder why?
