What is it with the rubber used on some camera grips, it gets so gummy and sticky that its hard to put the camera down does anyone know of a way to neutralise this stuff so it doesn't become quite so sticky?

It is designed to be sticky, a vinyl plastic usually, or silicon, but clean it with water and detergent or soap, and wipe over with a wax general purpose household polish. This should reduce the tacky feel a bit.

Bob Bob, I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix. In the past year or so during warm humid weather the steering wheel becomes unpleasantly sticky. I carry a small bottle of Johnson's Baby Powder in my car. When the going gets gooey I sprinkle my hands with the powder and rub it around the wheel. It lasts for several days and smells good as well. Mickey

Good idea, our 1959LandRover has the same problem, but so far I have just put gloves on.
