Did anyone ever notice that just about every type of camera has its digital counterpart, be it as an integral camera or with an adaptall digital back. But as far as i know there never ever was a digital TLR ( maybe for obvious reasons) I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a digital back for my Canon T90. I don't want much - just the switch from film to digital, that's all. The T90 will comfortably take care of everything else. Please hurry. Mickey

Watching the end of Wimbledon was a sobering thought - the crowd delighted - and mobile phones , even tablets snapping away - I could not see one camera , let alone the debate about mirror or not ... I have just been coerced into buying an i phone something - the smaller one - 'cos it's compatible with the family . I can't hear when it rings etc , but I can use it as a music machine I guess ... oh yes .. photos ? I guess so , but my little Fujichrome XF1 [ with 35mm equivalent aperture markings - bliss ] is still going strong .

I know that there have been binoculars with built-in cameras before, I have seen them with 110 film cameras between the lenses and there are a few low-res digital ones, but I am surprised that one of the optical manufacturers have not built a high quality 10-20 mp camera into a (zoom?) binocular? If it was stripped of complicated features and could be made at a comfortable weight and sensible price it would seem to be ideal for nature watchers and travellers. Perhaps they are out there, but I haven't seen any.
(I suppose the trendy person would want built in mobile phone and GPS and other modern aids (headphones, connectivity to the internet etc. !!!!!!!!)

"Digital Camera Binoculars" are available from several manufactures. A search on amazon.com showed such products from Barska, Bushnell, Eoncore, Gemtune, LDGJ, PowerLead, Pyrus, and Vivitar, priced from (US) $20 to $160. Both B&H and Adorama stores in New York have several offerings. Or, if you don't care about price and want something claimed (without supporting evidence) to be the best, try Hammacher Schlemmer www.hammacher.com/Product/Default.aspx?sku=87967&promo=Exclusives-Electronics&catid=4275

Yes, but it is still only a 5mp camera. I wasn't intending to buy a pair, just commenting on the lack of a performance binocular with a high resolution camera included.

Possibly a APSC camera 'phone , as ever - with built in obsolescence ... back in the day , virtually any camera could be coaxed back into life and quality was a combination of lenses and CHOICE of film .

Rolleiflex Minidigi Digital TLR Barbarians, If my wishes come true there will be arf & arf cameras. Some heroic genius will bring out an attachment to convert my Canon T90 to a practical, relatively inexpensive (or a little more) digital camera. I could want nothing better. Mickey

I predict that eventually mobile phones will become obsolete ...... When mobile phones started to become popular, I thought wrist watches would become obsolete (stopped wearing mine), but look what's happen ... they (watches) have got bigger, more expensive, and become objects of desire (for many). On this basis, I predict future cameras will be jewel encrusted Leica M variants, worn as status symbols. The Rolex DTLR could just happen!!!

The interesting thing with wrist watches is that the old analogue style with hands are more popular now than those with digital displays. My original comment was rather "tongue in cheek" but technology advances relentlessly and who knows what the future holds. I always thought that the early digital cameras, mostly, looked nothing like cameras but modern digital cameras have come to look more like film cameras.
