I'm Celeste, greetings from sunny Florida. I have a question ? Is this a site where I can sell my Rollei camera from 1965? I need to part with it because I need money for my cost of share for chemo. I love this camera because it was my grandfather's when he worked for Honeywell. But I cant afford my meds.

Hello Celeste! I'm very sorry to hear that. I know of two options right off the bat: the first is eBay, which involves some work but will probably bring a good price if you include clear photos and description in your listing. The second is KEH Camera at www.KEH.com. They're located in Atlanta and are the largest dealer of used camera gear in the country. They are always on the lookout for quality equipment in good condition. They have to make a profit to run their business, so you will probably get less from them than you would from eBay, but it's also likely to be easier, and they have always struck me as an honest bunch.

I have bought several things from KEH. Always a good experience. Never sold anything to them.
When i worked in a camera store (late 1970s), we bought used gear for no more than half what we thought we could sell it for. That sounds like we were doubling our money on used things, but we weren't. Not at all - - Everything went through the repair shop for a check which cost money. Most things were sold with a warranty, and there were warranty repairs, which cost money. Some things didn't fetch the price we hoped they would. And some things never sold at all.
So, for a quick sale, but at a low price, offer it to a dealer. For a better price - probably but no guarantees - sell it privately or on a site like eBay.

I know this is late in the day but nobody told celeste that the camera's value wouldn't make much of a contribution towards the price of chemo. Even the most expensive Rolleiflex wouldn't raise much more than a grand UK, EU or US.
