I am bringing this up because in the mid 1980's I had a bit of spare money and changed over from my Canon AE-1 to a Minolta 9000 system. (Canon salespeople couldn't be bothered to tear themselves away from their coffee to serve me, but that is another story!) My favourite zoom lens of all time was the Minolta 35-105 and I was very sorry to sell the camera and lens (separately) a few years ago, Minolta were taken over by Sony and I wasn't too impressed with the Sony DSLRs at the time (5-6 years ago.) so I went over to Nikon.
Recently I obtained a new Sony A 6000 CSC and am very impressed with it. So, on Ebay I found a Minolta 35-105 in good condition and paid £29 for it. It arrived this morning and is absolutely as new, clean with original box, caps, UV filter instructions and pouch. Bargain. Now I have sent away for a (manual) Minolta A to Sony E mount adapter and am looking forward to trying it out..............

Now looking for a cheap but working and non - basic Minolta AF body to go with the lens. I didn't want another 9000 and some of the later Minoltas look a bit plasticky, especially the silver ones, so it seems that the one that might suit would be a Maxxum 600 Si Classic which has knobs as well as buttons for the controls, they seem to be underrated, but I just missed one on ebay that had a lens, battery grip and some extras that went for £39, I didn't want to go quite that high and don't need a lens. Just bought a nice clean working Minolta 600si for £15, looking good so far.
