Sorting out my camera cupboard found this at the back. Tokina SZ-x 35-70 f:3.5-4.6 macro Minolta md mount. Bought because it was cheap and I cant remember using it. Anyone come across it. I know these lenses appear under different names.

I have had one or two Tokina lenses through my hands but cannot remember having the 35-70. I do have a Tokina 28-70 for Konica mount which looks similar but haven't used it yet. Generally Tokina have a very good reputation - some of their very large range seem to be made by Kenco..

A past boss seemed enamoured with his new Tokina zoom & new Nikon. I've been using sparingly, usually to get exact framing for slides, my last generation 43~86 & 80~200 NIKKORs for 50 years or so, believing the image quality of my NIKKOR primes was significantly better than that of NIKKOR zooms and zooms in general.
Is there available anywhere side by side comparisons of the modern plastic fantastic zooms with classic zooms or primes?
