Today, at a flea market, I found a beautiful Luftwaffe Zorki 1. The metal was all highly polished, and the engraving looked almost new.
The dealer wouldn't let me get a picture of it, and he wanted a lot of money for it, so I had to pass on it. Darn. I'll probably never see one of those, again.

Don't want to burst your dream but it may be interesting to read this article :https://www.japancamerahunter.com/2019/09/camera-geekery-no-your-nazi-leica-is-not-real/ or to summarise it, there NEVER were any 3th reich cameras with swatsticas or any other "special" markings on them (exept for the "Luftwaffe eigentum" engraving on the back of the body). The luftwaffen, heer, kriegsmarine and other divisions of the nazi army did use Leica's (and certainly not Zorki's!) but they are extremely rare and only recognisable by their serial numbers. Still on every camera fair i've visited there are always those shady east European sellers with an abundance of these silly copies. In fact there are so many variations that people are beginning to collect them as such. In many European countries it is forbidden to sell stuff with nazi emblems or markings. Sometimes an exeption is made for original nazi war memrobilia of wich can be proven it is actually original. This may explain wy the seller wasn't keen on you photographing the camera.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. What would a Russian camera manufacturer be doing, making Luftwaffe cameras? It was obvious the polishing was done to remove any Cyrillic lettering on the camera.
I don't know if he realized that the camera was a fake or not. But the fact that he objected to me photographing it, does make me wonder.

Sorry Barbarian, i was in doubt if it was sarcastic or not, anyway let this be a warning to those who don't kow any better and are easy victims for those frauds. Our camera collecting comunity know and avoid these guys. Still "newbies" keep getting tricked at camera fairs and auctions. If my memory serves me well i saw the first examples popping up in the eighties, one should think people have learned their lesson by now...or are they just suckers for anything with a swatstica on it?

An antique dealer I knew asked me to look at a "Leica" camera he had just bought. It had a threaded release button, and a triangular lens follower for the rangefinder. If you looked carefully at the front of the case, "FED" was visible, under the overprinted "Leica".

There is a 'unique' Leica on ebay at the moment. Gold plated & with a wood grain body. 3 available. How 'unique' is that?

There's no end to the crap they are selling on "reputable" auction sites; have a look at the latest offering, saved from the burning wreck of the Hindenburg, i present to you the "original Hindenburg Leica " last time i've checked the auction stood at 280€ +. I really don't get it
