I recently bought yet another Topcon RE Super, after some research it became clear that it's a type 4. Now the type 4 is easy distinguisable from the 1-2 and 3 because of some design changes: the RE super inscription moved fro the right to the left side of the body, the back plate of the shutter button and self timer is line engraved on the type4 the serial number is on top of the left shoulder on type 1-2-3 while it is right on the back together with the Tokyo Kogaku inscription at the back on the right side of the prism and a few other minor details... Now while everything's easy in recognising the type 4, I am unable to tell the 1-2-3's apart. The most I could find on them is on the Topcon club site but this is in Japanese wich I sadly can't read or translate. So my question is: do any of you know what the difference is between the types 1-2 and 3???
