Last night on BBC TV programme 'Antiques Roadshow' a lady brought in a Leitz leather case containing a camera and 3 0r 4 large lenses and some other items including film containers. The expert handled the camera, it was a Leica 111a from 1938 in apparently good condition.
Becausa a lens cap was fitted he didn't realise that the body had a lens on it retracted (probably an Elmar?) What the other lenses actually were we were never able to see because they were not examined. Could have been very rare or disireable.
Then gave a valuation of £1000 to £1500. For the lot. She should have been referred to a Leica expert.
