I have always been too shy to take pictures of strangers. Last weekend I decide to overcome this hang-up. I went to a large indoor flea market to see what I could do.
I still was compelled to ask permission before shooting. Most people were pleasantly agreeable. A few were hesitant and only one said no. No one yelled at me or struck me. I guess I don't look like a paparazzo.
There was not a single camera of any kind for sale. There were hardly any used or second hand or antique items to be seen. And nary a flea.
The ubiquitous Hub Cap or Wheel Cover. An expensive, virtually useless device designed to fall off and roll away with a great clatter.
He did not have a thimble to fit me. The sew and sew. I am losing my buttons at an alarmig rate.
Time on his hands. But biding his time by standing watch behind a display of --- timepieces.
This gent was reluctant but said okay and then hid his face behind the underwear while at the same time checking to see if his were still where they should be. Perhaps he didn't trust me.
What wonderful colours. The kids were as cheerful and beautiful as the colours.
Vegetables from all over the world. Including delicious, sweet pea pods.
And people from all over the world still able to satisfy their local appetites.
And yet more colour. Strawberries. Blueberries. Raspberries. Cherries. Apples. Plums. Pears. Peaches. Exotic fruits from so many countries.... And i Pods.
It was not a painful experience. Indeed, it was rather exhilarating. I will have to do it again.
All photos were taken with a Pentax K100D and its 18<55 mm kit lens.
