I scored today, got a mint 28 f3.5 Super Multi Coated Takumar screwmount lens for $25 and a 105 f2.8 Super Multi Coated Takumar for $38. Did I say mint? The operative term is borderline pristine. Both were at a local camera shop on the main drag in Oakville. ;D

Bill, you should turn yourself in to the police for theft! Those are two of the very best and most highly regarded Takumar lenses ever. You did well.

Bill,
Golly...great find!!! Yep, ya just never know what kind of treasure ya might find in one of those local haunts.
Sometimes all day can be spent going around to them and nothing worthwhile is found. But then the big jackpot hits.

Walker I don't think so, I was just sharp and knew it was a lightening strikes once kind of deal. I have a Super takumar 28 f3.5 but it looks like the baggage handlers at Pearson International Airport (Toronto) got their hands on it. Bill

Great find Bill. I love looking at what is around my lacl area, but sadly there isn't much. My last good buy was a Industar-50-2 50mm 3.5 in M42 mount which I got for $20 AUD. This lens is as close to pristene as you can get too.
I am waiting on the delivery of a Fujica ST605 kit I won on eBay which has 2 Super Takumar lenses. One is the 135mm 3.5 and the other one (which is mounted on the body in the listing pics) looks to be a 50mm which I don't know the aperture. Also has a Fujinon 55 2.2 and 2x converter. Price for all this, a cool $30 AUD plus postage. I already have a 50mm 1.4 and a 55mm 1.8, both Super Takumar that came with a box of miscelaneous bits I bought for about $30-40 AUD a few months back. The 50mm 1.4 has some growth in it, but it is as sharp as a tack. I am going to get this baby cleaned up soon.

Heath Heath, I've just cleaned a 50mm f/1.4 Super-Takumar and it's about as easy a lens to disassemble as you'll find. It would be wise to get the "growth" out of it as soon as you possibly can. It can only get worse if left alone. That lens is worth the effort to save. Walker

Great find Bill. The only local haunts here is a junk store, and Tinker's Hollow. One gets me a dirty old camera from a damp basement, and the other gets me a headless horseman and a case of the willies.

Tinkers Hollow...now the name sounds as if it would be a cool place.
