Picked up an Nikon SB-17 flash that makes use of the F3s odd mounting shoe and TTL flash feasture. The SB 17 also is very compact--doesn't stick way up in the air above the camera. Seems to work as advertised. Won't use it much but will be nice for family snaps. Shipping was almost as much as the flash.
Now I have a Nikon SB-25, SB-17 and a Vivitar 283 -- and I harly ever use any of 'em!

Wayne,
I too very seldom use flash. Do not take many indoor shots, but when I do prefer to use natural light.
Have a couple of Minolta flashes for that gear, and an SB28 for the Nikon gear. Most of my flash work is fill or stop action for outdoors.
Hang on to that Vivitar 283...had one long ago...it is probably one of the best all-around system flashes ever made.

Yep. My 283 is one of the Made in China later models with the low trigger voltage --some of the old ones could fry moden electronics. Think I paid $60 new for it and it performed flawlessly when I shot our daughter's wedding on Maui.
