The cost of this item is far over my $10 limit for vintage camera purchases, but I couldn't resits. ;D I have a simple, one body, Leica kit. I was looking for an economical 90mm lens (right!), but wasn't having too much luck finding one. Then I saw a Rokkor/Leitz M 90mm f/4 lens on an eBay auction, in totally new condition. I had used one of these about 10 years ago with my Leica CL and paid $400 for it, in very used condition. Well, I thought I'd give the auction a try. I was about 12 hours away from closing, so I tested the waters with a bid. I was the leader. In a panic, as the end was nearing, I placed another bid far beyond what I wanted to pay, but this was mint, says I. My original bid was still holding and as the minutes crept down to the end of the auction I envisioned dozens of bidders jumping on this at the last second. No one placed another bid and I won it for $162.00! This is a wonderful lens, and, from my previous use, it is a gem. The seller is also a great guy and sent it express mail from Hawaii and I got it the next day. Here it is:

Beautiful M2 Todd! Great deal on the 90/4 too... I haven't 'graduated' to M leica yet (hell, I don't even own a Leica screwmount), but the day will come. Thanks for sharing!

It's always been my opinion that Leitz would never have been associated with Minolta if there was any question about Minolta quality and reliability. I see that your Rokkor 90mm f/4 M-Mount lens was made by Leitz and while I'm not familiar with the optical formula, I'm willing to bet that the performance will be first class. I also think you got a bargain. Good going. Nice looking M-2.

I bought a 90mm f2.8 Elmarit for my M but I sure as hell didnt get mine that cheap.Mindyou,it is rather nice!
I also had an M2 once but bills piled up (I was working at a camera dealers and kept getting too tempted) so it had to go.Boy,do I regret that.It was a mint one with some funny factory mods that had the guys at the LHS baffled!
