I've had one or two disappointments recently - the Canon FT, and a Yashica 300AF where the dealers were just cowboys (sorry Wayne!). Once in a while, its nice just to send off your money and receive everything you hoped for.
I had no opposition for a Konica FS-1 (I think it was the world's first autowind camera), but it was ridiculously cheap. Received it today, put the batteries in and it came to life. My Hexanons work a treat.
I was told by Alan Myers (a lapsed member of this board, and a Konica expert - Hi Alan!) which serial numbers to look for with FS-1s, but I can't get too worked up about whether its an early (less reliable) or later model. It works!
It goes to join my Autoreflex T3, FC-1, FP-1 club. All I need now is an FT-1 to complete the Konica electronic set!

John, good for you. Konica is one of those cameras that I don't own any model of but I've always held them in high regard. (I already have too many lens systems!)
Ebay is always a crap shoot but sometimes you really do come out of it way ahead and that's nice.

Walker, I have M42 and T2 > Konica adapters, but they won't work with the FP-1 (which sets the lens aperture). I don't have any long Hexanon glass - way too expensive, but it's handy to be able to use the other stuff.
Regards - John
ps All the FT-1s seem to be in the US - none on our eBay.

About two weeks ago there was a mint FT-1s with 1,4 lens on German eBay. The "Sofort Kaufen" price was as high as 149€ if I remember right. Somebody bought it. Now they all are in US as you wrote. I have also made some partly bad deals but always given a positive feedback. It's a good thing, that the good deals have a healing power. Regards

John, I forgot to mention that I once owned a Koni-Omegaflex-M 6x7 TLR camera that I used for weddings. It was an amazing camera and the Hexanon lenses were brilliant. I'm sorry I ever sold it. Some models of cameras were made specifically for certain markets. Some for the US and others for Europe. Could it be that the FT-1s was dedicated to the US market just as the Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic IIa was? The IIa had a built-in sensor that worked with specific Honeywell flash units for automatic exposure. They preceeded the auto flashes but not by much and they quickly became obsolescent. Walker

I remember the Omegaflex. Wasn't it about the only TLR with interchangeable backs?

I'm beginning to wonder about that myself Walker. The only UK items I've seen have been for parts. I did a search on Google (UK sites only) and there were absolutely none for sale, and that's unusual. There are normally at least one of the camera chains offering any camera you can think of (at vastly over-rated prices!). Will keep my eyes open. I may have to pay the postage from over there before I get my 'set'.
