Dishonest Seller? Mis-described Camera? Damaged Camera? Lost in the post? None of the above - seller said camera was absolutely immaculate. It is. What's up then? Everything! I have never - ever - seen such a poor design! Absolutely unusable! Early 1960s Japanese RF - Auto + Manual. The back is completely detachable. Fine, but for the wheel catch operation! Get the wheel slightly misaligned and back falls off! Handy in the middle of a film! Leverwind. Moves from front to back. Like an Alpa? Well no, its on the bottom, so the best you can do is use your little finger to pull it back. Easiest method is to turn camera upside down & wind on. Really convenient! To switch between Auto & Manual first use switch on top of camera and position lens - remember to align both or your in trouble. Everybody else had it mostly marked on the lens though the odd one on the camera - not on both! See the large exposure counter! You do need a magnifying glass, it's that small! Should I name this wonder of design? Probably not - if I do, I'm sure to upset someone! Back to Baldas & Fujis! Paul

We could have a contest--"Guess the camera." There were some really interesting designs tried back in those days. Everyone was trying to stand out from the crowd--but it sometimes was not in a good way.

A poor camera in the hands of someone who actually knows how to use one?
But in those days, of course, it was the other way around. The people who bought them would think it was the other way around - they'd screwed it up because they didn't know how to use it.
Name and shame Paul!!
Regards - John

My guess is that it is *e*** Pr**t. Btw this kind of play "Guess what camera is this?" could be entertaining I suppose, that Wayne will be with with a will. I made a modification in order to save the tension ;D

I'm trying to recall Japanese rangefinders with the film advance on the bottom...but this is one of my "foggy" mornings again!

Reijo would be right, a Petri Prest it is. Not my favourite camera, I have one too. Other bottom winders are Ricoh 35, 500 + 519, Fujica 35 SE, certain Baldas and I believe the Ricoh Auto 35.

Reisko,
Thanks for not giving the game away earlier!
Yes it is a Petri Prest.
Today I received a bok on the History of Japanese cameras and it gives each one a rarity rating Zunow Reflex = 4 star and most Minoltas Canons & Nikons get one! Well would you believe this this **!!!* of a camera gets a *** star rating!
Obviously nobody bought it!
I think I'll put it back on eBay with a reserve of $5000 ...............
