There was a discussion about this a day or two ago, but I can't find it now. This method seems to work OK, but may not be much use to dial-up users.
Log-in to eBay. Find your item. Copy the item number. Open another internet window and open eBay but don't log-in. Paste the item number in the search window, and bring up the item.
So now you have two windows open. Go to the one where you're logged in, and click the Bid Now button. put in your maximum bid, and click OK. That takes you to the confirm bid screen. Don't confirm!
Go to the other window, and click refresh. Keep doing that periodically until the item has 10s to go. Switch to your other window, and click Confirm Bid.
Then all you have to worry about is whether someone has put in a bigger maximum bid and really wants the item.

Hi John,
I don't think it You need to care on being logged in or not. I always snipe this way. I do however use my radio synchronized alarm clock for hitting the "confirm" button in the right moment (well most of the time :-( ).
I perfer the Firebird browser, where I have a few tabs open, one for "my ebay". Just do right click, and do "open link in new tab"...
No magic here.
Best regards Peter

OK - it didn't work just now. I was sniping on a Yashica FX-D Quartz with a whole bunch of lenses, Maximum bid just wasn't high enough!
