As an old Olympus OM user, I still have a soft spot in my heart of the company (despite being orphaned by them). They're going against the trend in dSLR's and, as a result, they have some fresh thinking about what a dSLR can be. The newest model, the E-330 to be introduced at PMA, has some interesting features. What really grabs my attention is the tilt&swivel LCD panel that can be used for picture taking (this on an SLR!) and getting a preview histogram. I once owned a Canon G2 digital with tilt&swivel display and it was one of the features that really made that camera worthwhile. You can shoot from the waist looking down, as with a Rollei or Hassy. Great for macro work. And you can accurately frame while holding the cam over your head in tight group settings. I don't know how this new Oly camera will play out in the marketplace, but I applaud its fresh design. Specs here: www.dpreview.com/articles/olympuse330/Gene

More companies are opening up to the four-thirds system: Leica has a digital zoom lens coming out for "4/3 rd's", here is an article: www.dpreview.com/news/0602/06022608leica14-50mm.aspI almost got the Olympus E500...had many features I liked and I loved the quality and color of the images I have seen from Oly digital cameras. But I already had Nikon gear and went with the Nikon D50 instead. Still, it was very tempting...but I love my D50 and now I am exploring film again... Nancy P

Boy do I understand that one, Nancy! I have sold or traded all my Olympus gear for Nikon gear and now I think I'll have to get a Nikon digital SLR so I can use my lenses.
It's interesting how going to digital means the abandonment of film by most who cross the divide, but, like you, I find digital somehow makes me equally interested in my film gear. I often use my DSLR to try out things I've not tried before, so I don't waste a lot of film, then go out with my film cams and apply what I've learned.

Gene Being able to use it TLR fashion was one of the reasons I bought a Sony R1 (another was the Carl Zeiss 24-120mm lens). Roger
