This is all that is left of what used to be a nice "gift shop" at the Can/US border on the Canadian side. I have fond memories of the place from my youth as my parents knew the people that owned/ran it. Sad seeing it gone now. Bob

Interesting to see the cobbles at the bottom and slates at the top. A nice photograph but a sad memory. Well done.

Bob, that's the loneliest looking chimney ruin I've seen. Bittersweet -- excellent photo but some sadness to think how it got this way.

Yes, it was functional and the memories are bittersweet. This walk prompted me to do a WEB search and I found out that the man who owned the place died this spring at age 97. He was a kind and generous man who led a long and prosperous life.

I suppose the chimney is a fitting tribute to the owner of the now vanished building. Your picture, framing it with the branches, does it justice. It reminds me of an inukshuk.
