Hi everyone. I just picked up my Ebay goodies from my US mail drop and in amongst them was a Minolta SRT 101 w/35 T mount Lentar lens. Sounds good huh? Even better it was in a box of 3 cameras, the others an Agfa B2 Cadet in original box like new and a Kodak Instamatic R4. I know, ho hum Kodak. The whole lot was I believe $4.99 US so not too bad a deal. Only problem with the Minolta (it looks really nice) is the top cover on the wind side looks like someone used it as a hammer. The film counter still works but to cock the shutter you REALLY have to force the cocking lever, it grates and rasps like mad, then the shutter works perfectly at all speeds. I just need a bit of knowledge as to how to get the chrome retaining ring off the wind/cocking lever so I can remove the top. Tried to unscrew it but barring forcing it, it's stuck tight. Is it left or right thread does anyone know? I ask because I ruined 2 Mamiyas trying to remove the rewind cap on the rewind button the wrong direction. Also will I see the spring do an Atlas rocket impersonation or will it stay in place? Thought maybe Randy or Peter might know but I'd welcome any advice and thanks in advance.

Thanks anyhow guys, Found Mike's Hobby Page with pretty good removal instructions. Now just a matter of removing the red dot, and top to find out what's causing the resistance and grinding before I break this old item. Hopefully I can straighten the top cover till I find a better one. Hey, they don't all have to be bathing beauties, they just have to work up to snuff.

I just found this post Curt. The top cover is what's doing it. I've got some top covers laying around, but not sure if they are 101s or not. I know the SRTs like the back of my hand.
