Anyone know of a good tutorial site that gives a general explanation (preferably with pictures) of the CLA for a stuck (or stiff) focus ring? I've had two personal emails recently, asking if I would create a "How To" page for it. I just received a similar question in a posting on my own forum site. I don't have the time, at the moment, to create a new web page and would rather just link to a good reference, if there was one out there!

I would like to join the choir. My problem is a stiff focus in a rangefinder and I have got at this far but how to proceed is "under the construction"

I have an impossibly stiff focussing ring on a Taron VR.I know its probably just the grease thats oxidised after 40 years but I cant see how it comes apart.Nothing is obvious on Tarons and they are tricky beasts to mess with!

There are several good sites on how to re lube a FSU lenses but very little on other lenses of different manufacture. I had a stiff focus issue with a lens on a Fed and it was bad enough that in the cold it got nearly impossible to turn the focus ring. A quick check on the net and I was able to clean the helicoil and re lube it. The focus ring now works and in the cold to boot. I guess it is up to people who are adventurous enough to try it without any instructions to document the procedure for latter posting on the web. I can't say thank you enough to those who have already done that.
