I'm one happy boy today!!! My Nicca type IIIS arrived this afternoon! It's in amazing condition and the shutter purrs right down to 1sec... Words escape me right now, but I figured a picture would do the trick. Peter

Absolutely awesome camera Peter. If you don't mind, I'd like to use this photo as my desktop for a week or so. I change them regularly and my wife's Iris picture is due for a change. Now let's see some shots with this nice old Nicca.

Amen on the camera. It is prettier than a Leica of the same era. especially with that Nikkor Lens.

Thanks for all your comments... I'm glad you enjoyed the picture. I loaded it up & shot a couple of frames today, but I didn't have much spare time. It's a beauty to use & I'm really going to enjoy the Nikkor lens... It is SO smooth and is in another league compared to using my FSU lenses. I couldn't find either marked on the body... The bottom of the ERC is stamped 'Japan' though. I was surprised that the bottom 1/2 is reinforced with metal & has a flash attachment on the left side (not present on the one with my Tower type 3). There's even a plastic card with an exposure guide for different bulbs & films...I just had a thought that you might have meant the lens... Nothing on it except the usual 'Nippon Kogaku Japan' Thanks for the link. I have been looking at this site for a while now... There's really some cool/obscure cameras on there! Never heard of 1/2 of the Italian ones! From the site my camera was one of 8,000 made between '52 and '54 (my Dad was born in '53)... I guess that makes it fairly uncommon? Thanks again everyone! Peter

Wow, that Nicca is one sweet looking piece. I would love to get something like this one day. The closest thing so far in my collection is my two Zorki's (4 and 6) and a Fed 5.

Heath Hey Heath, Thanks! I started with a Kiev, then a couple of Fed's, then a Zorki 4... I really wanted to get myself a Fed or Zorki 1, but I got a deal on a Tower branded Nicca... I was happy with my FSU cameras (& still am), but now I understand people's interest in the 'quality' marques... I doubt I'll get another ltm FSU camera (don't quote me!). I'm leaving for Cairns next week & can't wait!!! I'll be working there until mid August & then I'm heading home to Adelaide until mid Sept. It will be nice just to hear another Aussie accent again... Cheers! Peter
