Phil,
1957 Desoto fireflight if I am not mistaken. Had a two tone green one when I was 19. Not only did it have fins but a large Hemi engine, dual points and weighted 4000 lbs. Rode nice ride and was fast.

Those fins are what it's all about Phil. Great angle. Got a picture of the whole car?

Randy I think that was the only shot I took of the car. Very impressive and so huge by today's standards. Phil

Phil: I love the old cars, too. My father worked for Chrysler for 34 years, and I remember those Chryslers, Desotos, Plymouths and Dodges from the late 50's with the fins. My favorite personal shots tend to be of a particular type of car without fins, however... and my all time favorite...

Phil,
Those fins on the DeSota and dual antennas, one on top each fin. My paternal grandfather had one...a grey with white roof, 4 door hardtop, those translucent steering wheels, big V8. And at times he let me use it when I was a teenager.
Ron,
Love the old Vettes, but am not attracted to the newest ones at all. Old...particularly the early ones like in the TV show...Route 66...!

I was thinking about taking the antenna out with PS. I feel it is a distraction, but they were an important styling issue at the time. The closest I ever came to owning one was a '79 Chrysler with a 383ci engine (only a 2bbl carb IIRC) in it. It had fairly good sized fins too. We didn't talk about gas mileage back then. Phil

I wouldn't take out the antenna. Any car purist would know something was amiss, and think the car was a not-to-well-done restoration, when it obviously looks top drawer! We never thought about gas mileage when it was only 20-cents a gallon (I remember price wars at 18.9)! Ron: That last shot should appeal to you then! It's a beautifully restored old Vette, 1959 or 60...wish it were mine..but it's another one of those adult toys that is just a bit beyond my price range!

Ron,
Yep...I noted that and it was what made me think of the ol' TV show.
Your pic of the Vette that I really like is the first one that shows the tail-lights and their detailed reflection in the chrome bumper! Partial shots like that are neat to have as well as the overview of a oldie.
Say...didn't you post a pic of you driving a 2003 Vette? Were you test driving it for GM?

That 'Vette shot with the taillights reflected in the bumper - I wish I had taken it. Great composition! Phil

That 'Vette shot with the taillights reflected in the bumper - I wish I had taken it. Great composition! Thanks, Phil. Although I was wishing the car was mine, instead of the picture. It was a "company car" (they are not usually that nice - no, that's not right...they are hardly ever that nice)...I got lucky and happened to have it during the summer (good timing), and drove it in the Woodward Dream Cruise. I didn't think I liked the new ones as much as the older ones either...until I drove it. It is one sweet machine! My brother-in-law bought an old '79 Vette last fall...and it has fueled my interest in one all over again! Found a '72 in really great shape early this summer...and was on my way over to buy it ( wife's permission and everything!) ;D and decided to call, to let them know I was on my way....they said they had just sold it! My fault for not letting them know how serious I was!
