Very nice shots!!!! I'm a closet plane fan myself. My favs are the B-25 Mitchell and the F-86 Sabre Jet.

Those are super! Were you on the ground? Some of those look almost as if you were right next to them in the air!

Thanks Ron - yes I was on terra firma. It's all an illusion - I tracked each aircraft and took the shot when any manoeuvre it made looked like it would if I was also flying with it; since there's no ground or any other frames of reference, they look like air to air shots. That and the fact that the 5D creates such a huge file that for subjects like some of the images here that didn't even remotely fill the viewfinder, you can crop to a quite remarkable degree and still have a reasonable image. By the way, both the Lanc and the Sea Fury images have a bit of camera shake - that's why they're in B&W as I can hide it better by simulating a period shot....

Cool! Some of those planes must have been maneuvering at some pretty steep angles to get the effects you did.

They were, Ron - one shot I wasn't quick enough for , was the Mig 29 doing a touch and go, and on the take off, the pilot suddenly swung the aircraft's tail round at 90 degrees towards the crowd line, sort of like a rear end skid on a car, and then he hit the afterburners... Totally awesome

Bob M
Keep those great AC shots coming, I never tire of them. Now that Sea Fury is one mother of a large fighter and I have read that it was used successfully against Migs in Korea.

That's correct Bob - I believe that the first Mig to be shot down in Korea was downed by a Sea Fury.
