These units had been on the road only two weeks when I captured them crossing the St. Sebastian River in Roseland, FL. The engines are EMD SD70M-2 models from General Motors. I think they are rated at about 4500 horspower. I think they're using two of these where they usually use three, older, 3000 HP models per train. Some fuel savings, no doubt.
I've been skunked at this location several times since I moved to Florida. It seems they run four or five trains between 4pm and 7pm, but only when I don't have a camera!
