Paul's posting of pictures from Tintern railway prompted me to look for some I took way back. Can't remember when, but probably late 1970s. The film was FP4 and the camera was a Canon A1 with Canon'sf/3.5 35-70 zoom. Engine 5541 waits to come into the station at the end of its last run of the day. The light had begun to fade so I had to open up to full aperture. I let the camera take care of the shutter speed but I think it was quite slow, and there may be just a trace of camera shake. I was standing at the end of the platform with the lens lens zoomed out to 70mm. Signal gantry at the end of the platform, taken earlier during the day. I've got more pictures taken during the day but I can't put my hand on them at the moment. PeterW

Stephenn,
Thanks for identifying the engine and where it was taken.
Memory told me that I took the picture at Tintern station, but I was obviously mistaken. Valerie and I visited a number of preserved railways, old stations, museums and so on around that time when we used to tour on our holidays with a trailer caravan. We spent some time in the Forest of Dean, though I don't recall the name Norchard Steam centre. But memory plays tricks after 30 or so years, especially when you're getting on a bit. It's all somewhere in the chaotic hard drive I call my memory, but the search and retrieve facility doesn't work as well as it used to!
I know I took at least one roll of film at Tintern station, and I'll try over the next week or so to find the negs. Trouble is I've got so many negs stored away without having a proper filing system. They're in film storage envelopes in lots of boxes without any indication of what's inside each box, but I will find time to have a look.
