One of the first accessory lenses I ever used on an SLR was a 105mm f2.8 preset Takumar. I borrowed it from a coworker. Forty years later I remember it as one of the sharpest lenses I ever used. I have seen it on at least one Pentax site. Was a very early lens. Periodically I search Ebay but have never come up with one. Anyone out there have any experience with the lens?

I have the semi automatic Takumar 105/f2.8. I have not really put it through its paces as I have been on a Leica and Olympus kick of late.

Someday I would like to get hold of an example of the lens -- for nostalgic reasons, if nothing else. I shot a portrait of my late father-in-law with the lens which the family considers a classic.

I've three Takumars for my AP; 2.2/55, 3.5/135, 4/200. Pre-sets seem to work great but you have to be fully engaged with the camera. Keeping my eye out for a Tak 105. Have Auto and Super that are quite nice lenses. The first 105 that I spent my own money for was a 105 NIKKOR in 1969. I like 105s.
On another subject: I keep trying to fill gaps in my M42 Takumar collection but several are quite scarce/pricy. Can you name a few M42s that are comparable in build and image quality to Takumars that I can consider as place holders?

FWIW, I like the 2/35.
