The last couple of days some people have been "throwing" me cheap Chinon lenses (M42 mount) on evil bay. I got one 2,8/35mm and a 2,8/135mm for just 17 pounds/30$ +shipping. An ok deal for me when comes to price. (They haven`t arrived yet, but pictures looks ok) Question is, with Johns lens test in mind, have some of you guys any experience with those particular lenses? It seems a bit hard to find lensinfo on Chinons on the net. I plan to use them on an Yashica Electro TL, and Yashinons is hard to get at a fair price (for me ) I have a Yashinon 1.4/50 as a standard set up. Also, any suggestions in the 85mm range for the same camera?

The only Chinon lens I have is the f2.8 28mm seen here on my Bessaflex. I don't know that I can say much about it except that it's well made and performs,as far as i can recall, reasonably well.

ctually having just seen a posting from Bob about Revueflex/Chinon/Mamiya connections I wonder if this is a Mamiya built lens? Isn't that chrome front rim a Mamiya characteristic?

Rachel that is VERY interesting!!! I studied the photo of your lens and then studied about 80 other lens in my collection......and I think you may be on to something. The front part of the lens seems to have some very "Mamiya-like" characteristics but the rear part of the lens has some very definite "Cosina-like" characteristics.....Hmmmm...so.... Maybe...and this is nothing more than a maybe.....this was a Mamiya/Cosina collaboration badged for Chinon. Wow, this sure does get complicated and confusing. Bob

Ohhh... That was a beautiful camera Rachel Well, I just have to wait for the lenses to come and do a little test my self. Bob: This sounds interesting, almost a "who made what" plot. I have read several places that Cosina made lenses for "everybody", but did Chinon buy their lenses or did they make them in-house?
