I celebrated my Christmas in Poland and Santa brought me this, an old and heavy Celestron C90 Maksutov telescope, made in U.S.A. It is in excellent condition and has an adapter for Konica SLR cameras. Perhaps I will need a heavier tripod

What a wonderful present. A really impressive piece of glassware, but I think you're right, you will need a heavier tripod. . Then you ought to be able to photograph the smile on a bee's behind at 100 metres. PeterW

Reijo. This might interest you as a subject for that beautiful lens/telescope. The International Space Satellite is visible with the naked eye but only as a very bright star moving across the sky. I have managed to spot it twice. spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/view.cgi?countryMickey Sighting Opportunities Want to know when a spacecraft will be flying over your city? This "applet" uses up-to-the-minute data from Mission Control to project the path the spacecraft will make across the sky. Please allow sufficient time for all files to download the first time you access NASA SkyWatch. You will be downloading approximately 300 K of data, which can take three minutes or more on a 33.6 kbps modem connection. Significantly more time will be required (more than 10 minutes) with a 14.4 kbps connection. Thanks, Peter and Mickey! Today I looked through it and I will certainly need a more stable tripod and fast film to get that bee on the negative. Mickey, thanks for an interesting link. Before any satellite I will try to shoot the moon from the sky. Now I am waiting for a dark and clear (and cold ) winter night. Happy New Year to everybody!
