Dozens of M42 adapters are available on eBay for mounting screwmount lenses on a Nikon body. Most offer infinity focus. I bought one and it did not focus the lens at infinity.
I see there are expensive adapters available that feature a built-in correcting lens. Has anybody had success with one of those?

I have one I haven't used but I have used them in the past with decent results. None of the M42 lenses will focus to infinity unless the adapter has a correcting lens. I think wide angle lenses are likely to give better results than normal or teles as their depth of field gives them more fudge factor.
Thanks for reminding me I have one. I'll have to try a Takumar on my Nikon D300.
