Can someone out there educate me about Vivitar T-mount lenses.
I have a TA 6 adapter. From all I can tell this adapter is made so one can mount a Vivitar T-mount lens on a Miranda camera.
Now what confuses me is...are these T-mount Vivitar lenses a screw mount...but not the standard M42 screw mount? The reason I ask is this TA 6 adapter is threaded on the inside and that screws into the inside Miranda mount which 44mm.....with this on there is on the front end of the adapter, a threaded end to mount the T-mount lens??? I tried gently to screw in an M42 lens and it does not screw in completely....so does this mean the T-mount lens are a 42mm thread but with a different pitch?
Am I on the right track? Please educate me.

The T-mount threads are different than standard M42--intentionally, to keep people from screwing the T mount lenses onto M42 cameras without the proper backfocus

You're correct, Wayne.
T mounts are 42mm x 0.75 mm pitch. The standard camera M42 mount is 42 mm x 1.0 mm pitch. Why Tamron didn't make the mount a different diameter, say 43mm, I don't know. It would have saved people trying to force a T mount lens without adapter into an M42 camera and getting it stuck.

To add a little to the information that Wayne and Peter have provided, I'd like to point out that the standard T-Mount has two parts; the inner "collar" that threads onto the back of the lens and the surrounding piece that goes over the collar and also has the mount for the camera on the rear. The surrounding piece/mount normally will have three set screws that fit into a V-shaped groove on the outter diameter of the collar. This allows adjustment of the lens' orientation to permit the index mark and depth-of-field lines to be at 12 o'clock when mounted.
It may also be useful to know that astronomy telescopes often have the ability to mount cameras using a T-Mount.
The T-Mount is simple and inexpensive. My first after-market lenses for my Exakta were T-Mount Vivitars and I still have them after some 40 years. They served well the needs of a cash-starved young man.

Thanks to all who supplied info. Much appreciated.
Yes, the TA-6 adapter works fine with Miranda mount.
Another T-mount adapter found its way to me....this one is labelled "KE". Anyone know what camera mount this one is for?
thanks Bob

That's an easy one Bob since I have 7 of these adapters: Kine Exakta.
