Apologies - not even remotely camera related.
Just wondered if I could ask for your thoughts/advice.
My son is flying off to Seattle on Wednesday with his friend and their respective wives.
They are going on a Skiing holiday! Where? Whistler resort near Vancouver! Before you even say "that's not logical" I said it before you!
My son though, has a very valid reason - his friend has won four free return flights London to Seattle by "super luxury" business class (they normally go cattle - sorry economy class)
So they thought "easy - hire a car in Seattle and drive to Whistler"
That's when all the Office Jonah's started work on the wives! "Do you realise that Whistler had 35ft of snow", "last time we drove down that road four cars were overturned" etc etc. Now the wives are reluctant to drive the final bit and so the car has to be left somewhere in Vancouver for the duration. The question is where?
Hiring a car for a single trip (& return) Seattle - Vancouver seems the obvious answer, but the price is very high (hiring in the US and leaving the car in Canada seems the main cause)
Are the rumours about the weather conditions on the Whistler road a lie?
Any thoughts?
Paul

Paul, I live in Longview which is situated on I-5 between Seattle and Vancouver. In fact, Vancouver is maybe 20 minutes from where I work in Woodland. I know we've been to Whistler's more than once and I'm trying to remember exactly where it's at. When I get home from work I'll ask my wife as she has a better memory than I. lol!
Off hand though, I highly doubt the road is any problem at all right now. We haven't had any new snow lately and they tend to be cared for very well. In fact, I'll bet the road is bone dry by this time. "Bad road" time here is usually in December.
I'll expand on this more later today when I get home and consult my boss (wife). ;D

Steve,
Thanks for that - I've emailed it on to Michael.
Pleased to get your further thoughts - when you have consulted "The Boss". Mine has a better memory for most things - would even tell me the precise year I went there!

We've had a number of storms pass through our area in recent days bringing a lot of new snow but we are probably 500 miles south and east of Whistler and the storms we are getting are coming from the SW so I doubt the would affect that area. Usually the roads to ski resorts are some of the best maintained during winter months. I don''t thin the chicken littles know what they are talking about.

Paul, I believe the Whistler's Resort they are going to is located near Vancouver, B.C., located about 2 hours north of Washington State. Vancouver, Washington is located south of where I live, near the border with Oregon. (There's 2 Vancouvers within a half-day drive from each other) Unfortunately, I don't know much about the roads in that area. To add to the confusion: There's a Whistler's Resort located on a lake near Mount St. Helen's, about a 45 minute drive from here. LOL! Which, of course, was the one I was thinking of. That one's quite small and probably still closed for the winter. I thought it was very strange that anyone would travel across the planet to go to "our" Whistler's. LOL! Honestly, I didn't even realize there was a Whistler Resort in British Columbia until I found it on internet
