I don't quite know what it is about the GIII's, but I love 'em to pieces. Simple, reliable, good lens, easy loading, bright film-edge frame, and an easy-to-see rangefinder patch. Leaf shutter, thus whisper quiet. This shot is from this morning when I went out at dawn to chase the fog, but the fog dissipated so quickly I didn't get any decent shots of it. It's dressed in a Hoya hood and wearing a CV external clipon meter and a wrist strap. The built-in meter is evidently good, but I haven't had a chance to buy a battery for it yet. The coffee is, in Starbucks lingo, grande mild. Rick, it's loaded with a roll of the Maco you sent. In a day or two I'll finish the roll. Gene

Excellent photo, subject and coffee. Look forward to seeing the results. I have only used D76 with it and was very pleased. They put a Strabucks in my VA hospital

Gene, like the camera, but do you have stock in Starbucks? Inquiring minds need to know. 8)

Thought it was just me Randy - what is it with this Starbucks thing?? They introduced them over here with a huge fanfare. Everything was perfect - the basic Espresso, the Latte, the Cappuchino and the Mocha (and how anyone could drink one of those without hurling is beyond me - but 'allow for individual differences').
But the coffee - the actual beans that they took so much trouble to grind, before your very eyes, were garbage. I'm not a massive coffee drinker (tea cheers me up), but I spend time selecting coffee that my friends and family can enjoy. One of the best was Maxwell House cooking coffee (blue can, orange top. orange lettering), but it isn't available over here. I'm reduced to an Italian blend that several of our supermarkets carry, as 'Best Around' at the moment.
No hope for me I suppose?? LOL
Regards - John

Rick, Randy, John, thanks for looking! The QL17 is no rarity but it has remained a crowd pleaser right up to the present, which indicates they must have got something right when they designed it. Rick, I'll use either Rodinal or HC-110 on the Maco. I had good luck with HC-110 and Maco 64 earlier in the year. Randy, John, I really should take out stock. There are three, no four, coffee shops within walking distance to my house. Of them, Starbucks has the most interesting building and, to my taste, the best coffee. I certainly know it's both a personal and acquired taste. Kinda like good bokeh Gene

I've often seen Canonets at camera fairs, but as I already own a Olympus 35 RC I have never been tempted Plus the Olympus .is a tad smaller. Like the clip on meter-you must splash out on a new battery and compare the two.
