Hey Jody....
How are you finding the Vivitar? Looks like a 220, which is a recent(ish) purchase of mine. I'm enjoying mine immensely - a proper camera, weighs a ton. I've been alternating between the lens it came with (a Hanimex[!] 70 - 200) and a nice Pentacon 50mm. That camera cheers me up!
Regards - John

Fujicas are unusually constructed, Jody. The mirror box and shutter are in a single assembly, which is removed through the top of the camera. I have a 705w which had a jammed shutter - there was a piece of aluminium light trap wrapped around one of the shafts.

Quite an impressive mix of new cameras there Jody. I have all except the STX (I believe) Fujica and they're all decent performers. My only peeve with Fujicas is of the 4 or 5 I've bought lately, all have a cracked plastic ring for the aperture setting or a missing rubber ring on the focus barrel. Just a design glitch I'm sure but since Fuji glass is really nice, I'd sure like to have a lens in better shape than mine. Your daughter is sure to enjoy the Canon, you can't go too wrong with Canon glass either.

Curt, you do know that you have a real rarity there.
It may only be a humble Ilford Sportsman, but that's the Super De luxe model that put them in a class above that they normally operated in, consequently it didn't sell. I have seen three only on eBay - I bought one and recently the other, but just had the top housing sent to me as it was better than mine (from New Zealand) Why? Well the postage on the defunct camera was a lot more than it was worth!
So I hope that its rarity will compensate you for the fact it won't make your fortune.
It was really a Dacora Dignette with an Ilford badge!

Hi Paul, Thank you. I wasn't too sure about rarity but I knew the Dacora connection. I have a Super Dignette (still in the original box if I can ever find it in my pile of cr...I mean goodies) and this fella: I just had to have an Ilford Sportsman and a Boots Pacemaker LM to get the British versions of cameras I already have. I have 3 King Regula Sprinty's too but the Boots version is one I didn't have. Don't worry, my entire collection wouldn't buy me two or three nice Leicas or Contax so no fear of ever getting rich or using it as an investment. That's kinda the way I like it, good affordable cameras for the masses, capable of decent results, durable and still functional after all these years. One man's junk....is usually in my collection, LOL.
