I went to the 2nd Sunday Camera Show in Wayne, NJ today & picked up an ES Spotmatic with 50 mm f1.4 SMC Takamur & an Asanuma 28mm f2.8 with never-ready case for $35.00. Put in a fresh battery & the meter came to life. Also has a roll of film in it. The Takumar's auto/manual switch seems to be stuck, but the lens stops down.

Hi Craigh: on my Spot F, the auto/manual switch is disabled when an open apeture lens is mounted on the body. I believe that the ES also does this. I've never handled an ES, so can't be sure. Dismount the lens and see if the switch will move. If so, I believe it is functioning as designed. There is a small pin that engages a depression in the body's lens mount to activate the block. Roy

Since I sent the post, I put the lens on a Spotmatic & it worked correctly. Blades a bit sticky but works.
