The auction description simply said:
"On offer in absolute brand new condition, yes brand new condition, it is a Mint and Boxed "
Latest D40? D60? D80? D300? D3?
Well, not exactly:
"This entire lot was a present back in 1980/1981 which I have never used"
Will post pictures when it arrives (in about a fortnight, because I have asked him to delay posting it while I am away)
Bargain? Well no, but how often does a new 27 year old Nikon come up for sale? (I asked him the condition of the battery compartment and he said he had never put a battery in it!) That's what rather pushed the price up - at least it gives me some comfort that there are other idiots about with the same mania!
I fear a small collection "cull" will be the consequence as I haven't broken the news to "er indoors" yet!
Any other recent purchases? Well a Samoca 35LE, a Walz Electric 1.8, an Olympus Auto Eye & a Kallo 281 (on its way from Australia as I speak) What do do you mean obscure? Just odd (& cheap!)

Nice find, I think it is one of the best cameras Nikon made and with a MD 12 to boot. Having the boxes is a real bonus. I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from that combination.

That outfit find is one goodie!!!!! And no lurch in quality either. Some may slam the E-series lenses as not befitting the Nikon badge.
I have several with an EM body and they are fine. Perhaps a little...I don't really want to say cheesy exterior construction...but much like the consumer lenses of today.
But the optics were supposedly the same as Nikon's premium lenses.
Congratulations, Mr. Paul!!!

The only film Nikon I still have is an FM in pretty much new condition. Wish my D300 was the size of the FM! Great Find, Paul. And most of those Series E lenses arer as sharp as the pro Nikon lenses as the period--just not a heavily built.

Nice find, Paul. I have the EM and really like its size and weight. I collected a set of E lenses for it -- they're a great match because they too are small and light. Well, the 135/2.8E isn't all that light, but the others are :-)
