Gene:
Can't see your rusted headlight picture. Problems with flickr, or something my end?

All OK now, Gene. The picture's come up.
I like the way the lamp stands out from the rusted body and bonnet (hood). It looks very 1920s/early 1930s.
If I might make a suggestion to the master? I would have cropped about threequarters of the black area from the left hand side, and just a little off the top - say to just above the door hinge (?), to avoid the lamp being too near the centre of the picture, and take away most of the distracting light area at the top. Also, unless that's all there is on the frame, I would ideally have liked a little more on the right hand side.
Play with the cropping a bit and and let me know what you think. YMMV.

PeterW Peter, as I keep saying, 'no master here'. I'm just trying to take good pics and learn ways to improve so I'm grateful for your suggestions! The one thing I did right after reading your comments was to burn in the light area at the top so it's less distracting. Haven't tried any cropping yet. Gene

It is a great mystery. King Canute could not make the sea obey him. Mohammed had to go to the mountain. But Gene always gets the sun to shine exactly where he wants it.

Yes Mickey, the quality of the light on the headlight is superb. Gene has a magic wand, apparently.

Mickey, Michael, if I could bend light to my will, I'd go on stage as a magician :-)
This was truly one of those lucky bits of lighting that you sometimes stumble across.

Gene:
The difference between photographers like you and photographers like most of the rest of us is that you always seem to see those "bits" of light. And luck really doesn't have much to do with it. You have the ability to see those bits. Most of us don't.

Gene Gene: I consider myself a decent photographer ... but I'd give anything to " stumble across" as many lucky bits of lighting as you seem to find. As always, my hat's off to you.

Wayne, Ron, thank you for your generous comments. I do actually stumble across a lot of interesting lighting, but that's partly because I'm out shooting nearly every day and when possible I try to go at times of day when the chances of good lighting are improved -- early morning, late aft-evening. The other thing is that I've become fairly adept at Photoshop and have learned how to make light look better than it did :-)
