As you can see, it isn't very big. The font is dressed sandstone, in contrast to the granite of the building. There is a story that it came from the Roman fort over the hill at Ravenglass. Why not? !! ... Back to "modern times". Some colonial people had a bit of a run in with the guy named on the crest... Either side of the altar are two tablets, with the Lord's Prayer, the Apostle's Creed and the Ten Commandments. These go back to the time of the Puritans. The Pilgrim Fathers would have been proud of them... Regards - John
