Well everyone else flies their flag. Our patron saint's day isn't even a public holiday here, but there are more and more St George's crosses on display every year. It's also Shakespeare's birthday, and if my wife had lived it would also have been our 36th wedding anniversary. So we had a barbecue, read the speech before Agincourt, and sang Land of Hope and Glory, just to really annoy the neighbours! Regards - John

John, what an absolutely stunning photo! A beautiful tribute to your wife! I hope you annoyed the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of your neighbors! Regards, Roy

That is a gorgeous rose, John.
Here in Toronto St. George's Society is, I believe, the oldest charitable society in Canada at 175 years.
Didn't he have something to do with dragons? I am not up on saints.

Hi Mickey,
Yes, rescued maidens in distress, slayed the odd dragon, and generally triumphed against insurmountable odds. As well as being England's patron saint, he's also Barcelona's, and they thought so much of him in Georgia that they named the country after him (their flag is the same as ours).
The Vatican aren't too keen though - last I heard they'd crossed him off their list of saints. No more Christmas cards for them!
Regards - John
