My daughter lost the shutter release button on what would otherwise be an excellent condition 200AF. She's signed up to take a Photography class at school this fall. Is there a chance of finding a replacement part if she can't find it?

A Yashica dealer may have one in a drawer somewhere, but I would be asking why it's missing. They have a membrane switch that is part of a flexible printed circuit board I think. I had a dodgy one on a 270AF which I had problems with. I had to shim up the board to get it to operate, and even then I never had total faith in it. Maybe somebody had the same fault and gave up in disgust without replacing the rubber cover?
First suggestion - get hold of a remote switch (they are AF specific electric ones - the standard mechanical ones don't work). The camera will work fine using that.
Second suggestion - look out for a 230AF on eBay. They are pretty cheap now, it has the highest spec of all the AF range, and any lenses your daughter has for the 200 will work - plus you'll probably get another lens or two thrown in. If possible, look for the 35 - 110 zoom. It's a beautiful workhorse lens.
