Hi Folks
This is a new one for me, I bought a box of cameras for $6.00. In that box was Werra 35mm..( believe it is E German). It has a strange problem. There is a ring at the rear of the lens that is used to cock the shutter by turning till it stops. I looked thru the lens with aperature wide open, and saw the shutter open, then close, and when shutter release was pushed, it opened and closed again. Unless I missed something, that would ruin that frame by prematurly exposing it. The camera bottom opens to access the innards. Any thoughts on this one.......

Robert,
I have a couple of Werras; Werra and Werra 1c. Neither of them prematurely releases the shutter when winding. They are lovely cameras and, I believe, well worth repairing providing they are complete with lens hood and lens cap.

Hi
Since origonal post, I find that there is a secondary set of 2 shutter blades that protect film during primary shutter cocking..I am told it is normal for primary to open and close.
It is a Werra I

Robert,
I checked the Werra I and sure enough there is that second set of two blades behind the regular shutter blades which do, indeed, open when the shutter is cocked. I had never noticed them before.
The Werra has film in it so I could not check it.

I have a Flexaret vii TLR with a Pentacon Prestor shutter which has something similar. Were the shutters made by the same firm, or the same design? Both E. Germany and Czechoslovakia were in the Soviet bloc at the time.
