Hello ! Over the years i had bougt three of these Dacoras for almost nothing. Two of them were defective and one almost completely damaged ( but with all of the release button covers / they were just snapped-on and often got lost ). I`ve never seen a working one, which may be blamed on the cheap plastic parts. During the last week, i disassembled them for the working parts ( especially for the unbroken crown gear and gear wheel that will focus the front lens ) and rebuilt a functioning one. The camera was introduced 1960 by Dacora Germany ( also sold with Ilford and Hanimex brand ) and has a special feature: 4 release buttons for 4 distances ( probably therefore the 4D in the name ), which are shown by symbols: landscape, group, person and portrait. As you press the release button, the lens will rotate by a gear wheel mechanism to the proper distance. I dont know if this is ingenious, or simply absurd ? Greetings from Austria, MIK

Hi MIK, Ingenious system but as you say rather fragile. I've seen one before under the Ilford name but never in person. Interesting, do you have any photos taken with it?

Hi Curt,
The lightmeter seems to be working ( it controls the aperture setting automatically ). So there would be no problem to put an film into the camera. I`ll try to take some shots during the next weekends, provided that i`ll find a 35mm-Film somewhere in my cupboards...
