Hello ! I copied that from some old glass plate-negatives ( dated 1915 ) from my collection. It shows some planes of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Army on an airfield near Vienna. Austrias first "Airforce" was called the "Kuk. Luftfahrttruppe" ( Imperially and kingly Aviation Troop / hope this is a useful translation ) The planes are probably made by the Lohner Works Vienna and are equipped with 120 HP Daimler engines ( designed by the young Ferdinand Porsche, who later invented the VW Beetle ). The aerial camera is an austrian Lechner&Müller model for 13x18cm reconnaissance pictures. I had to mark them with the copyright-sign, because some of my pictures i had sent to some friends, appeared afterwards unquestioned on web-sites and in a book. I like these old planes ! MIK

Thanks for posting these images and a backgrounder to them. I rarely see photos from this era of the Austrian Air force. I don't blame you at all for marking them with a copy right mark after the experience you had. I think I would have thought about suing over the unauthorized use of your photos in a book.

Terrific photos! Iincredibly sharp, especially considering when they were taken. The one of the take-off (landing?) run is especially good. Thanks for letting us see them! Roy

Forgotten about this :The man standing left beside of the man holding the aerial camera is the austrian emperor Kaiser Karl I ( maybe taken 1916 ).

Pretty neat that a camera w/ that large of a format has a hand grip.
