Hi ! This is my absolute Ebay-bargain: A almost new streamlined Bakelite 1955 Photax V ( nomen est omen ) with case, manufactured by M.I.O.M. France. It was the last model missing to complete my Photax collection ( 1938-1957 ). The Ebay announcement only showed a picture of the case added by the text “ A French Bakelite Camera, function unknown”. I won the auction at the starting bid of 1.- Euro / 1,48 USD ( I offered 2,50 ) and picked it up personally, so there were no shipping costs. This was about three years ago. Mc Keown says: 40-60.- USD, but I think this model would reach a higher price. I never saw a second one, but I know a collector in France who paid ca. 110.- USD for a undamaged model V. MIK

It's a wonderful and very unique-looking cameras. The lens looks like something that would be found on a 1930s camera rather than a 1950s model, however.

Yes, the graphic treatment of the lens definitely looks art deco.
