Hi ! Last weekend i came by a vintage car museum not far away from Vienna. My son and i had our cameras with us and so we stepped in and took some pictures. It`s a private collection of mostly expensive classic cars. I asked the museum attendant, how much the owner had payed for the rare Mercedes 500K cabriolet ( last picture ), he answered about 2.000.000 Euros . I like the style of this old cars, which is so different to our current functional design . I`ve also seen there a ca. 1920 english made car with the brand "RAF" on the front. Does anyone know this car manufacturer ? I dont think that the Airforce had ever made cars.

Photax,
All the pictures are lovely but your first photo is striking. I have never seen a car photographed from such an unusual angle.

Very striking photographs, Mik.
I don't know if the cars were too close together to take pictures of them complete, but if so you turned this "drawback" to your advantage.
This is when an eye for good design in a picture takes over from classical composition.
The RAF wasn't an English car, the initials stood for Reichenberger Automobilfabrik. The company was founded by Baron von Liebig in Reichenberg in 1907.
In 1913 it was merged with Laurin-Klement which had factories in Prague and Pilsen. This company was, in turn, taken over in 1925 by Skodovy Zavody which, for two years, had been building Hispano-Suizas under licence.
In 1925, this company started making cars based on the Laurin-Klement and changed its name to Skoda .
Information taken from The Complete Encyclopaedia of Motorcars by G. N. Georgano.

You did get some nice crisp and clean shots of those cars. You are lucky to find such museums close by where you live.

Have many thanks for your kind comments ! The cars are arranged like usual, but this time i decided to take some close-up pictures to show some details of classic design, i can watch the common car pictures in the various catalogues Thank you very much for the research on the RAF car ( very interesting story ), i did not notice that this is a "monarchy austrian " one, next time i should put the Nikon aside and have a look at the describing cards. Did`nt even know that they built Hispano Suizas under licence in the Czech Republic. Here is a picture of a Hispano Suiza radiator mascot and one of the "boat-tail". MIK

Beautiful pictures, photax.
I'll wager that hood ornament really reduced the numbers of jaywalkers.
